A Quick Update

I have been extremely MIA because of work! I started work about a month ago and haven’t had a moment to write. Any time I’m done with work, I want to turn my brain off!

Here’s a short fill in on work!

Work started slow! We had three weeks to get our classrooms ready and while I needed it, by the end of it, I was so ready for in person learning to start. We had one week of remote learning and getting organized and then last week, in person learning started.

So far, I’m loving it! While it’s not ideal to teach with a mask, having a class with 12 kids one day or 7 kids another, is amazing! Small class sizes mean I really get to know my students and I can meet with them individually in every subject during independent work time.

With that being said, it is a little scary teaching, in person during a pandemic. Anyone could be asymptomatic or could have been in contact with someone who has it. As of right now, the neighborhood my school is in is doing okay and below the 3% positivity rate. This week schools in other New York City boroughs are closing. As much as I hope this doesn’t happen to us, I almost feel like it’s inevitable. Let’s see!

Any readers out there teaching in person? If so, how’s it going?

I hope you all have a lovely week!

  1. Here in the Philippines is either online schooling or modular learning. It’s very stressful for us here at home. I’m the one who helps my nephew who is 8, I’m there if ever he has questions and trouble with his computer. It feels like I’m also going to school with him 😅. Anyways, stay safe always!

  2. That’s nice that you’re able to be in person and connect better with your students. My friend teaches in Newark, NJ and they’re doing online still. Stay safe!

  3. They’ve started schools in India in some States. My mum’s a teacher but her school has decided to stick to the online format but that has its positives and negatives. Her work load has increased tremendously since she isn’t hands-on with the new applications being used for online exams and classes. :/ So maybe once the cases in India go down a little – they’d definitely prefer moving to offline classes.

    Stay safe! ☺️

    1. What state in India? My husbands family is in Delhi and my family is in Mumbai but I heard there are still a lot of cases! Best of luck to your mom! Thanks for reading!
